The Producers:

Mono Azul is a project dedicated to promoting the development and well-being of people and ecosystems through coffee.

For the past five years, they have worked with neighboring producers. They began collaborating with the Almaráz family, their closest neighbors and collaborators. In the 2026 harvest, they partnered with new members of the community by purchasing their production, including Don Daniel and Doña Isabel. Don Daniel owns a two-hectare ranch in the village of La Violeta, an hour and a half walk from Mono Azul ranch. He is a neighbor of Don Carlos, with whom we have collaborated for the second time. This year, Don Carlos expressed interest in working with them, and they were able to purchase his entire harvest. Don Daniel is a special case because he has an exceptional interest in developing his coffee plantation, introducing new varieties and cultivation and processing techniques. The intention for the 2027 cycle is to work with him to produce some microlots with controlled fermentation, as well as planting new coffee trees on his land. Doña Isabel owns less than one hectare of coffee, which she tends and harvests herself. Mono Azul connected with her through the Almaráz family, as she attends the field school along with Doña Nicasia. This year she produced only three quintals of parchment coffee, which Mono Azul purchased.

This community lot consists of a blend of coffee from Don Daniel (50%) and coffee from Doña Isabel (50%). 

Don Daniel Coffee Plantation: La Violeta, 1,400 meters above sea level, shade-grown coffee. 

Doña Isabel Coffee Plantation: Barrio Arriba, 1,300 meters above sea level, shade-grown coffee.

This Coffee support CAFETO: Our compromise is to plant 2 coffee trees directly on Don Daniel and Doña Isabel farms for each kilogram of coffee we sell, In total, they will be receiving 280 coffee trees.
